Sump pump replacement cost in the US.
The failed pump pulled from the pit and a new one set, plumbed to the existing discharge and check valve. The pump is roughly half the money.
The same wrench costs different money in different places, because the hand holding it does. Pick your city for the local band, the upsells and the script.
- 01Shut the pump's breaker before you put a hand anywhere near the pit.
- 02If water is rising, get a wet vac or a hose siphon running now — the pump is a later problem than the water.
- 03Photograph the pump label, the pit, and the discharge pipe where it leaves the wall.
Pro if the pit is deep, the discharge needs rework, or you want a battery backup wired. DIY is possible on a straight swap.
- A full interior drainage system quoted off the back of a dead pump.
- A battery backup presented as included and then itemised at several hundred.
- A second pump sold for a pit that only fits one.
Crawlspace, dual-pump, or full submersible systems run $1,350–$3,000. That is a system, not a pump.
National band from published US cost guides, 2026 editions. Adjusted for this metro by scaling only the labour share of the job by the metro's median plumber wage against the national median of $34.70/hr (BLS OEWS, May 2025). Parts are not scaled.
Comparable quotes from this metro in our Price book: 0. This band is derived from national guides and local wage data, not from local quotes. We will say so on this page until it is not true.
If you think a figure here is wrong, write to pricebook@getitplumming.com with the quote. Corrections go into the next edition and we do not argue with an invoice.
Angi's replacement figures start at $309–$358 and its installation guide runs to $1,100; HomeGuide puts typical replacement at $400–$700. This band spans both.
